Phil Valvardi
Chief Executive Officer
Phil Valvardi is the former President of the MAC Network, one of the largest debit payment networks and processors in the United States. He led the growth of the MAC Network to $300 million in annual revenue and continued as President after the network was sold to Concord EFS, which was subsequently acquired by First Data. Phil has more than 20 years of experience in the electronic payments space. He has previously served as Chief Development Officer for FreedomPay, Inc. and Director of Corporate Development for Electronic Payments Services, Inc. Phil also held executive positions in the electronic payments and financial divisions of CoreStates Financial Corp., now part of Wells Fargo Bank. Early in his career, he held various management positions with Procter & Gamble. Phil has served on the Board of Directors of Money Access Corp, the Network Executives Council and the Electronic Funds Transfer Association.

Jim Shanahan
President
Jim has over 25 years experience in the card business with industry leaders, startups and consulting firms. He was CEO of Card Alliance Network Company, the first card processing company in mainland China ;General Manager of MBNA’s Merchant Processing and Acquiring Division and Managing Partner of Business Dynamics, a leading card consulting firm, where he provided strategic consulting services to the card industry in the United States and 15 other countries. Jim also has extensive new product development and marketing experience. He was formerly Senior Vice President of Marketing for MasterCard International, Vice President of New Products for JP Morgan Chase and Director of Marketing for American Express. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association and was Chairman of the Services Marketing Division.

Tony Newshel
Chief Technology Officer
Tony has 32 years of experience in information systems, technology and operations within the financial services, commercial and consumer banking, health care, and insurance industries. His distinguished career has been focused on high volume, information intensive financial transaction products including ATM, POS, card management and authorization (credit, debit and prepaid/stored value cards), check processing, wholesale and retail lockbox, Internet banking and eCommerce. Tony has overseen all aspects of software development and technology operations while serving as executive vice president, managing director and CIO/CTO for third-party processing companies, national EFT and card processing networks and top-10 U.S. commercial banks, including U.S. Bank, Elan Financial Services, Genpass Technologies, QuestPoint Information Systems, First Union, CoreStates Financial Corp, STAR Systems and the Money Access Service (MAC).

Stephen Rosenzweig
Controller
Steve has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He previously served as Vice President of Accounting and Controller for First Data’s Debit Service Division, where he managed accounting, treasury and settlement functions in three locations. Steve also has significant debit card product knowledge and has worked extensively with banks, processors and the national card associations. He formerly served as the Director of Finance for Concord EFS and the STAR network where he played an instrumental role in developing corporate reporting standards. He was also the Divisional Controller of the STAR network and was part of the original team that formed Electronic Payment Services, Inc. the successor to the MAC ATM network. Steve has an MBA in Finance and is a certified cash manager.

Jill Boova
Vice President of Client Relations
Jill adds financial and credit card processing experience to Maverick, having served as vice president of program support for SynapQuest, LP, a subsidiary of Corestates Financial, after which Boova became a consultant for the Personal Financial Services division of Wilmington Trust, where she was instrumental in launching the bank’s on-line personal deposit products.

Barbara Hvasta
Vice President of Alliances, Marketing and Product Management
Barbara has an extensive background in loyalty, rewards, and co-brand programs, most recently serving as vice president/general manager for First Bank’s prepaid card program in Nashville, TN. She has headed MasterCard’s international loyalty rewards consulting and co-branding team, served as vice president of co-branding for Visa, and held other senior management positions with US Bank Voyager Fleet Systems, The Associates and Dell, Inc.

David Lipkin
General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer
David has more than 35 years general business banking, commercial, computer and securities law practice. He was a founder and principal legal adviser of the MAC EFT Network, which became the largest EFT network in the United States. He served as its Chief Counsel for more than 18 years, and in 1992 led the legal effort to form Electronic Payment Services, Inc., a joint venture previously owned by 6 leading banks that was sold to Concord EFS, which was later acquired by First Data Corporation. He also represented the Integrion Financial Network, a home banking joint venture originally formed by IBM and 16 of the largest banks in North America. David was
also formerly Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel of CoreStates Financial Corp.
